380th Bomb Group Association

 NEWSLETTER #8 -- September  2001

Compatriots and Friends,

June 18th dawned a clear, bright, beautiful day for our Ceremony of Rededication of our plaque in the Cemetery of the United States Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs. Thirty-two of us including our families and friends gathered for the ceremony, which was magnificently presented by the Academy staff. Truly a wonderful honor to those of our compatriots who have left us, both during World War II and since.

The ceremony was followed by a luncheon at the Kissing Camels Golf Club at the Garden of the Gods in Colorado Springs hosted by Tom Hunt and his family. This is a gorgeous place with tremendous views of Pikes Peak, the Front Range, and the Garden of the Gods.

We want to thank Tom and his family and the Academy and its staff members for a most memorable and beautiful ceremony and day.

Our next event is the Reunion in Dayton, Ohio, on October 3-7, 2001, at the Marriott Hotel and Wright-Patterson Air Force Base. This issue presents all details of the Reunion as known at this time. Pat Carnevale and her associates have arranged a very nice program for us with the proper mixture of solemn remembrances, reviews of our wartime deeds, mixed with lots of the usual "enhanced" stories, and lots of comradeship and fun!

We look forward to seeing all of you there!

To preserve the memory of the 380th.

Sincerely,

Theodore J. (Ted) Williams
